Bus plunges into river, kills at least 10: Peru
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
A bus traveling between the Peruvian cities of Huanuco and the country's capital Lima crashed and sank into a river on Monday, killing ten people and injuring another 25, as per local media.
12 of the 25 wounded have reportedly been transported to hospitals in Lima, as per La Republica newspaper.
Media reported that local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The truck that struck the bus, according to the carrier firm, was to blame for the catastrophe. According to the report, the truck hasn't been discovered in the vicinity of the collision.
The bus was carrying about 60 people, including six children, according to the Peruvian radio station Radio Programas del Peru.
Road accidents are very common in Peru, with many drivers operating vehicles on dangerous roads and lacking any proper training. On January 28, at least 24 people died in northern Peru after a bus carrying 60 passengers fell off a cliff.
