Diddy arrested following grand jury indictment
The famous producer has faced multiple accusations and lawsuits ranging from rape and sexual assault to physical abuse and battery.
Music magnate Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested by federal agents on Monday evening in Manhattan based on a sealed indictment, the US attorney for the Southern District of New York announced.
"We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the US Attorney's Office," Marc Agnifilo, one of Combs' lawyers, told Reuters.
Agnifilo stated that the producer voluntarily moved to New York in anticipation of the charges. However, a spokesperson for the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York refused to comment on the matter.
Combs' piling sexual assault allegations
The 54-year-old has faced several sexual assault accusations within the past year.
Singer Dawn Richard filed a lawsuit in the Southern District of New York last week accusing Combs of sexual assault, sex trafficking, battery, gender discrimination, and fraud. However, Combs has denied these allegations.
In the same month, Combs was required to pay $100 million in another case filed by Derrick Lee Smith, accusing him of drugging and sexually assaulting him at a party almost three decades ago. Combs' lawyer said the rapper would move to have the judgment overturned.
The hip-hop executive was also sued in 2023 by R&B vocalist Cassandra Ventura, accusing him of serial physical abuse, sexual slavery, and rape during their 10-year romantic and professional relationship. While Combs denied these accusations, the singer agreed to an undisclosed settlement in November 2023.
