An explosion at a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department training facility has reportedly killed three deputies, according to Fox News and local media, though officials have yet to confirm any fatalities.
A Sheriff's Department spokesperson confirmed that the blast occurred at the Biscailuz Center Academy Training facility in East Los Angeles. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, and no official details on casualties have been released.
According to the Los Angeles Times, which cited unnamed sources, the explosion happened while a bomb squad was handling explosives.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi stated on social media that she had spoken with US Attorney Bill Essayli of the Central District of California regarding "what appears to be a horrific incident that killed at least three at a law enforcement training facility in Los Angeles" at the facility.
Bondi added that federal agents are on the scene and working to gather more information.
I just spoke with @LACoSheriff Luna. We have @FBI and @ATFHQ agents on the ground to support.
