Two US Marines dead, 17 injured in truck rollover in North Carolina
A dangerous accident in North Carolina results in deaths, injuries, and police charges.
At least two US Marines were killed and 17 were injured in a car accident in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
The car, driven by a 19-year-old, rolled over near the Lejeune marine corps base camp. According to ABC News, the accident took place on Wednesday as a 7-tonne military truck carrying marines spun out of control on a highway turn, resulting in its overturning.
Subsequently, one serviceman was thrown out of the truck onto the road, where he was run over by another military vehicle, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Two injured in critical condition were airlifted and taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina while the others were driven to hospitals.
The driver was charged with exceeding a safe speed and an administrative offense which resulted in two deaths, according to the media.
Investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
