One of the officers involved in the shooting on February 3 at a downtown Los Angeles warehouse is currently under investigation to ascertain whether the officer adhered to protocols regarding the use of lethal force, officials stated on Tuesday.
The individual who was shot has been identified as 36-year-old Jason Lee Maccani.
The video footage released on Tuesday depicts a man being confronted by approximately six police officers in the hallway of a building.
The officers instruct the man to approach them with his arms raised, and initially, he appears to comply. However, he continues to walk forward without stopping, his hands clenched into fists while holding an object that the officers believed to be a screwdriver.
Officers tried to subdue him but failed, police said in a statement.
The video shows the man advancing toward the police when gunfire erupts.
Maccani succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
