Windsor Castle intruder intended to kill UK Queen
Metropolitan Police arrested a man armed with a crossbow for breaking into Windsor Castle grounds. A video was obtained showing the man saying he wanted to "assassinate the queen."
A man has been arrested for breaching the grounds of Windsor Castle and possessing a lethal weapon, a crossbow, according to the Metropolitan police.
The police disclosed that the man was 19 years old from Southampton, and he was arrested at about 08:30 GMT on Christmas Day when the Queen was spending Christmas at Windsor Castle.
A video, obtained by The Sun newspaper, shows the intruder with a mask, wearing a hoodie and holding a crossbow. The newspaper said that the video was posted on the Snapchat account of the suspect, a few minutes before he went to the grounds of the castle.
The video shows the man addressing the camera and saying he wanted to "assassinate the Queen" in a "revenge" mission.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I’ve done and what I will do. I will attempt to assassinate Elizabeth, queen of the royal family," he said.

“I’m an Indian Sikh, a Sith. My name was Jaswant Singh Chail, my name is Darth Jones,” he says, possibly referring to James Earl Jones, the actor who became well known as the voice of Vader in the original “Star Wars” trilogy.
“This is revenge for those who have died in the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre,” Chail says, referring to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in India, where British troops killed 379 unarmed protesters and wounded more than a thousand in April 1919.
“It is also revenge for those who have been killed, humiliated and discriminated on because of their race,” he adds.
The man was later sent to a psychiatric hospital under the Mental Health Act following a mental health evaluation, and he is being cared for by medical professionals.
Change of plans?
The queen is usually known to spend Christmas in Sandringham in Norfolk; however, the royal family decided to cancel the trip this year due to the rising COVID-19 cases across the UK.
Queen Elizabeth spent Christmas at Windsor instead with her immediate family members. Princess Anne did not join the family as she was self-isolating with her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, after they were tested positive for coronavirus.
