'Afraid of their own shadow' says IOF reserve office of General Staff
Israeli media talk about the state of panic in "Israel" after Hezbollah and Iran's threats to respond to the two assassinations in the southern suburbs of Beirut and Tehran.
The Israeli website Srugim cited a high-ranking Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) reserve officer as saying that after 10 months of war, half of the Hamas brigades in the Gaza Strip still have the capacity to operate effectively against the IOF.
The officer added that the Israeli General Staff is "afraid of its own shadow" and that is why it dragged its feet at attacking Yemen "until the UAV arrives in Tel Aviv." It is also cautious in its approach to targeting Hezbollah.
According to the senior reservist office in the occupation forces, the leading perception in the institution is that "it is impossible to defeat a terrorist organization," referring to the Resistance groups seeking to liberate their land.
The office then added "Therefore we are doomed to live between rounds," explaining that most occupation officers believe that "the role of the IDF is to extend the time between rounds, and I of course disbelieve in this assumption."
Haaretz: Netanyahu is leading 'Israel' to disaster
In its editorial today, Wednesday, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz considered that "ten months after the Hamas attack on October 7, Israel is on the brink of a regional war against Iran and its allies."
The newspaper emphasized that "the public is increasingly concerned after the Iranian and Hezbollah threats that they will respond strongly to the assassination of leaders Fouad Shukr in Beirut and Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week."
The newspaper said that the Israeli occupation forces would not deal alone with the Iranian ring of fire, noting that Tel Aviv relies on the US-led coalition, which has reinforced its troops in the region and is working to recruit more allies to safeguard "Israel".
The newspaper emphasized that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is responsible for the current deterioration, and that, once again, he is "knowingly leading Israel to disaster."
Channel 12: "pleased with the fear and panic they are sowing here in Israel"
Channel 12's military affairs correspondent Nir Dvori, emphasized that they "follow in Israel, with vigilance, the planning and readiness of the enemies, Iran and Hezbollah, to respond, which appear to continue to plan and coordinate the operation against Israel."
Dvori noted that the assessment in the security and military establishment is that "they are looking at what targets to hit, so that they constitute retaliation and cause pain, without deteriorating into a full-scale war."
"Until Tehran and Beirut decide on the form of the response, they seem to be very pleased with the fear and panic they are sowing here in Israel, and they are listening carefully to what is going on here in the Israeli street," Dvori added.
