l'AntiDiplomatico: 'Israel', US had score to settle with Al Mayadeen
Since 2012, Al Mayadeen has become the Voice of the Resistance in the Middle East, a symbol for countries fighting against Western interference, according to writer Francesco Guadagni.

In a recent piece for the l'Anti-Diplomatico titled "Premeditated Israeli Attack Kills Two Al Mayadeen Journalists in Lebanon", Italian writer Francesco Guadagni discussed the recent brutal attack by "Israel" which targeted Al Mayadeen journalists Farah Omar and Rabih Me'mari. He frames this crime within the context of the West's dismay with Al Mayadeen's work in exposing their crimes and conspiracies.
The following is the complete translated text of the article:
In any conflict there is always the possibility that reporters may die but, in this case, the attacks against them were deliberate and premeditated.
For the West, "Israel" represents the bastion of its presence in the Eastern Mediterranean – the "only democracy" in the region, and a "democracy" does not slaughter innocent civilians, bomb schools and hospitals.
Just a few hours ago we were given yet another demonstration of the way "Israel" eliminates those working for the independent press. Al Mayadeen journalist Farah Omar and cameraman Rabih Me'mari were murdered in an Israeli airstrike in Tayr Harfa, southern Lebanon, while on duty.
Why target Al Mayadeen?
Since 7th October sixty journalists from different broadcasters and newspapers have been killed, but "Israel" and its patron, the United States, have a score to settle against this particular broadcaster founded by journalist Ghassan ben Jeddou in 2012.
Ben Jeddou resigned from Al Jazeera in 2011 over a dispute with the Qatari broadcaster which, at the time, was fomenting the uprisings of the so-called "Arab Springs" – which in reality were only aimed at overthrowing secular, independent governments not under the control of the West, as the facts were later to prove.
Since 2012, Al Mayadeen has become the Voice of the Resistance in the Middle East, a symbol for countries fighting against Western interference. It even established a Spanish-language newswebsite to build bridges between Arab and Latin American countries.
With the conflict in Gaza, the Lebanese network became so troublesome to "Israel" that the Zionist entity banned it from occupied Palestine. Ben Jeddou explained that this "was not a technical decision. Nor was it a political decision. In fact, it was a military decision related to Israel's national security".
Moreover, he recalled that "for the first time in history, the war cabinet – tasked by the United States with making the most important decisions during this war – met to discuss the Al Mayadeen network as an item on its agenda."
"Israel's" genocidal fury has no qualms about slaughtering women and children, let alone journalists. The responsibility for these crimes, as well as this recent murder of these two media workers, also falls on all those who support "Israel" – such as the EU and other acolytes.
Fortunately, reactions to events in Gaza are sending significant signals about public perception of the conflict in Gaza. Every week, more and more people are taking to the streets around the world to denounce "Israel's" crimes.
One thing is perceived clearly and increasingly by people, as journalist Chris Hedges wrote: "Gaza is the prelude to a frightening new world order. As democracies wither and die, as economic inequality expands, as poverty and desperation mounts, the global ruling class will increasingly do to us – once we become restive and attempt to rebel – what they are doing to the Palestinians."
