'Israel' informs Qatar of readiness for new Gaza truce: Israeli media
The Israeli Walla website, citing informed sources, affirms that "Israel" has informed Qatar of its readiness to resume indirect negotiations with Hamas and pursue a truce in the Gaza Strip, aiming to release approximately 40 of its prisoners held in the region.
Israeli media reported that the Israeli occupation informed Qatar of their preparedness to broker a week-long truce in the Gaza Strip. This proposal is contingent on a commitment to release Palestinian prisoners, with the expectation that approximately 40 of Israeli captives held by the Palestinian Resistance in the Strip would be released in return.
The Israeli Walla website revealed, in a report by Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, citing senior Israeli officials and a foreign source, that "Israel" had sent Hamas via Qatar a proposal for a new prisoner-captive exchange.
Ravid reported on Saturday, through Axios, that a meeting occurred in Europe between David Barnea, the head of the Israeli Mossad, and the Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani. He added that during the meeting in Warsaw, Al Thani conveyed to Barnea, "Hamas conditioned the resumption of negotiations on stopping the war on the Gaza Strip."
40 captives on the list
“Israel” told Qatar that it would be prepared for a truce for at least a week in the Gaza Strip, “in exchange for the release of about 40 prisoners held by Hamas,” as sources familiar with the details of the proposal explained to Walla news, noting that Qatar mediated the proposal.
Israeli officials conveyed to the website that "Israel" has signaled its willingness to release Palestinian prisoners who have convictions deemed "more serious than those of individuals released in previous agreements."
The Israeli website noted that the proposal is the first presented by “Israel” since the end of the previous agreement a few weeks ago, after the collapse of the week-long truce, as Israeli officials indicated that the proposal reflects “Israel’s determination to resume negotiations.”
The website touched on the visit of the Mossad chief to Warsaw on Monday, revealing that he met with the director of the CIA, Bill Burns, and the Qatari Prime Minister to discuss the possibility of reaching a new agreement to release its prisoners held by the Resistance.
It is noteworthy that the families of the Israeli prisoners held by the Palestinian Resistance in the Gaza Strip increased their demands for an immediate prisoner-captive exchange deal, and that these demands intensified after the Shujaiya incident where the occupation forces killing their captives held by the Resistance.
