The announcement follows a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting civilian infrastructure, including a raid earlier this week on the vital port of Hodeida.

The Israeli military issued a warning on Sunday demanding the evacuation of three Yemeni ports, namely Ras Issa, Hodeidah, and al-Salif. The announcement follows a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting civilian infrastructure, including a raid earlier this week on the vital port of Hodeidah.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee threatened the three ports in a post in Arabic on X. Similar threats were issued by Tel Aviv ahead of previous strikes on the capital, Sanaa.
The escalation comes after a missile launched from Yemeni territory on May 4 reportedly landed near Ben Gurion Airport. Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz later threatened, "The [Yemeni Resistance] continues to launch Iranian missiles at Israel. As we promised, we will respond forcefully in Yemen and wherever necessary."
For months, Yemen's Resistance movement has declared solidarity with the Palestinian people amid the Israeli onslaught on Gaza. Since October 2023, they have carried out repeated operations targeting Israeli interests and commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
Although the United States recently brokered a ceasefire with the Yemeni side aimed at halting attacks on US shipping, the leadership in Sanaa made clear that the agreement does not include "Israel". The Resistance has pledged to continue targeting Israeli vessels and positions in defense of Gaza.

On May 4, Yemeni forces announced a comprehensive air blockade on "Israel" in response to its continued aggression in Gaza.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, stated that Israeli airports, especially Ben Gurion, would remain targets.
He warned international carriers against operating flights to Israeli territory, urging them to reconsider for the safety of their passengers.
