The Lebanese Army command announced that an Israeli attack targeted a vehicle traveling through the Awali checkpoint toward Saida city, martyring three citizens.

Not only did the attack kill the civilians but it also injured three Lebanese Army soldiers serving at the checkpoint and four Malaysian United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeepers.

UNIFIL vehicles were passing through the Awali checkpoint at the time when the vehicle was targeted by the Israeli occupation forces, the Lebanese Army added.

Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) said that the UNIFIL troops were dealt minor injuries and were treated by emergency services on the spot by the Lebanese Red Cross. The UNIFIL peacekeepers then made their way to their outposts in southern Lebanon.

Moreover, reports indicate that the peacekeepers had only arrived in Lebanon recently and were passing through the checkpoint in northern Saida, which leads to their designated outposts before a car stationed near them was bombed by Israeli aircraft.
