'Israel' murdered Haniyeh's sons to conceal military flop: Hamas Rep.
Palestinian officials tell Al Mayadeen that "Israel" is resorting to killing civilians after failing to achieve its declared goals during its war on Gaza.
On the day of Eid al-Fitr, a holiday celebrated by the Muslim community as it marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the Israeli occupation forces assassinated Hazem, Amir, and Mohammad - the sons of the head of Hamas' Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, and several of his grandchildren. The children killed in the attack were: Amal, Khaled, and Razan.
The Government's Media Office in Gaza said that the Israeli occupation committed the massacre while the three were making Eid al-Fitr visits to relatives and acquaintances in the Gaza Strip.
Failing to achieve any accomplishments, the Israeli occupation resorts to assassinating civilians and committing massacres to pressure the leadership of the Resistance, thinking it may concede its just demands during negotiations, Hamas representative in Lebanon, Ahmad Abdel Hadi, told Al Mayadeen.
Ihsan Ataya, a member of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement, affirmed that "the Israeli occupation's assassination of Haniyeh's sons indicates the extent of the enemy's confusion, as it failed to achieve its declared goals during its war on Gaza."
Ataya highlighted that "the martyrdom of Haniyeh's sons in the al-Shati camp inside the Gaza Strip refutes the claims that leaders [of the Palestinian Resistance] hide their children during wars."
Touching on the matter, Israeli affairs expert Mohammad Halsa suggested that the Israeli assassination of Palestinian leaders and their children carries "symbolic significance", adding that Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may believe that such an assault puts pressure on the Resistance and forces it to ease its demands.
Similarly, Mustafa al-Barghouti, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative movement, said that the killing of unarmed civilians indicates that "Israel" is taking revenge for its military failure on October 7 by committing massacres against innocent people.
In the same context, Abu Ahmad Fouad, the head of Arab and national relations in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), considered that by assassinating Haniyeh's sons, "Israel" is attempting to achieve some gains and break the morale of the leaders of the Palestinian Resistance.
"The Palestinian people will not make any concessions to the Israeli occupation, which is committing massacres against civilians," he stressed.
On his part, the Director of the European Centre for the Study of Extremism at the University of Cambridge, Makram Khoury-Machool, suggested that "the assassination of Haniyeh's sons and grandchildren was planned long ago," pointing out that such assassinations are usually signed off by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Security Minister Yoav Gallant.
