'Israel' obstructing developments in talks: Haniyeh to Turkish FM
Turkey's Foreign Minister praises Hamas for its positions during negotiations, while Ismail Haniyeh urges increased pressure on the occupation to aid Palestinians.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan urged a positive response to the flexibility shown by the Palestinian Resistance - Hamas in indirect negotiations, highlighting their consideration of Palestinian interests and adherence to the advice of mediators and allies, further emphasizing the necessity of the occupation respomding constructively to end the war.
During a call between the Foreign Minister and the head of Hamas's political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, they discussed the latest political developments and ongoing progress in the indirect negotiations amid the ongoing war in Gaza.
Haniyeh briefed the Turkish minister on the daily atrocities inflicted by the occupation against Palestinians in Gaza, underscoring, "We have cooperated positively with proposals from mediators. However, the occupation evades the necessary outcomes and rejects reaching an agreement to halt its ongoing warfare and aggression against the Gaza Strip."
Haniyeh commended the Turkish stance against the massacres perpetrated by the occupation, urging increased pressure to support the Palestinian people and compel the occupation to cease its crimes, aggression, and war against Palestinians.
The Turkish Foreign Minister denounced "Israel's" ongoing massacres, specifically citing the atrocities in Khan Younis and al-Shati refugee camp, stressing the urgent imperative to cease these atrocities. Additionally, the Turkish Minister reaffirmed his nation's steadfast support for Gaza, emphasizing the critical need for prompt delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population in the region.
'Ceasefire talks could collapse any second'
Earlier on July 14, a senior source in the Palestinian Resistance revealed that Hamas warned mediators that negotiations with the Israeli occupation could collapse at any moment. The senior source told Al Mayadeen that "Hamas has strongly informed mediators that negotiations will not yield any results as long as the massacres and daily atrocities continue."
"[Hamas] is greatly frustrated by the Israeli side's stalling tactics aimed at disrupting the negotiations," the source added.
On that note, earlier that day, negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza have been halted until the Israeli occupation showcases seriousness to reach an agreement, two Egyptian sources told Reuters.
In the same context, two security Egyptian sources affirmed to the Egyptian Al-Ikhbariya news outlet that "ceasefire negotiations stopped after three-day talks that failed to reach a result."
An informed source noted that Egypt has been urging the occupation to "not obstruct ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip or propose new demands that contradict what was agreed upon," according to Al-Ikhbariya.
