'Israel' says 5 soldiers killed, 37 wounded in one day in North
The Israeli occupation forces' losses are mounting on the northern front, with Hezbollah dealing extensive blows to their formations attempting to invade Lebanon.
The Israeli occupation acknowledged Thursday the deaths of five of its officers and soldiers, along with 37 others wounded, due to Hezbollah's operations in southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours.
According to Israeli media reports, the five fatalities occurred in two separate incidents. The first, which claimed the lives of four soldiers, happened on Wednesday evening, while the second took place on Thursday morning, resulting in the fifth death.
The first incident, described by Israeli outlets as "serious," took place in what they called one of Hezbollah's "complex areas" in the western sector of southern Lebanon, near the border opposite the Israeli settlement of Zar'it.
The four soldiers belonged to the Carmeli Brigade, a reserve infantry unit within the Israeli occupation forces. Six additional soldiers from the same brigade were also seriously wounded in the attack.
Hezbollah carried out a tunnel ambush
Details released by Israeli media stated that Hezbollah fighters carried out an ambush, attacking the Israeli soldiers from a tunnel. They surprised the soldiers by launching grenades, which forced a complicated and dangerous evacuation process under heavy fire in a forested area. This severely wounded the six soldiers during their evacuation.
Regarding the 37 injured, Israeli military helicopters transported 30 of them to Ziv Hospital in Safad, and the remaining seven were taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Among the injured, two officers sustained critical injuries: one from the 75th Battalion of the 7th Brigade, hit by anti-tank fire, and another from the 226th Reserve Brigade, who was wounded by a missile in the Malakiya area near the border. Additionally, a reserve soldier from the 55th Brigade suffered severe injuries during direct confrontations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
The Islamic Resistance's operations room in Lebanon released a battlefield summary on Wednesday evening detailing the ground confrontations along the border and the achievements of Hezbollah's rocket and air defense units. According to their report, the occupation forces have suffered over 70 deaths and 600 injuries among officers and soldiers.
Hezbollah also says at least 28 Merkava tanks have been destroyed, in addition to four military bulldozers, an armored vehicle, and an APC during the battles on the frontlines villages. These figures do not account for the losses in Israeli military bases and installations deeper inside northern occupied Palestine.
In light of the heavy losses inflicted on Israeli occupation forces, the IOF has failed to seize control of any of the frontline villages along the confrontation lines or to fully secure any of them.
Regarding ground confrontations, Hezbollah's operations room emphasized Wednesday that Israeli occupation forces have been unable to control or occupy any village along the frontlines fully. The report outlined recent ground confrontations, highlighting several failed attempts by Israeli forces to advance toward villages on the frontlines in an effort to capture and control them.
