The Israeli occupation's acting ambassador to Russia, Alexander Ben Zvi, revealed that no country has agreed so far to take in Palestinians from Gaza as part of proposed resettlement plans.
In an interview with Russia’s TASS news agency, Ben Zvi stated that the debate over "relocating"( another expression used to describe ethnic cleansing) Gaza’s residents resurfaced in February following remarks by US President Donald Trump, who suggested exploring options to resettle Palestinians in regional countries such as Egypt and Jordan, with reports also mentioning possible relocation to Syria, Somalia, and Sudan.
Ben Zvi clarified that the Israeli occupation has not approached any of these countries regarding the matter. He noted that some nations have denied receiving such requests, while others have outright rejected the proposal.
He further emphasized that the US is leading the initiative, whereas the Israeli regime prefers to maintain what he described as “ambiguous relations” with countries like Syria, Somalia, and Sudan. He also stressed that the Israeli occupation is not engaged in direct discussions on the issue.
US considering Syria, Somalia, Sudan
A CBS News report citing informed sources reported earlier in March that the United States and the Israeli occupation approached the governments of Sudan and Somalia and have also shown interest in Syria as a potential location to resettle Palestinians from Gaza.
Three sources familiar with the efforts stated that the Trump administration and the Israeli regime explored these countries as part of broader discussions on ending the Israeli war of aggression on Gaza and rebuilding the Palestinian territory.
Two diplomatic sources confirmed to CBS News that Israeli and American officials had reached out to Sudan and Somalia regarding the resettlement plan. Additionally, three sources said that the Trump administration and the Israeli occupation were also interested in Syria.
One source familiar with the administration’s Middle East policy stated that it attempted to contact Syria’s new interim government through a mediator. Another regional source told CBS News that outreach to the Syrian government had occurred, but it remains unclear whether Damascus responded.
A senior Syrian official, however, denied any knowledge of such communications, telling CBS News that there had been no contact from either party regarding the resettlement of Gaza’s population.
No one to be expelled?
US President Donald Trump stated earlier that "no one will be expelled from Gaza," emphasizing that "no one is forcing the residents of the Strip to leave," in a serious reversal on his staunch support for ethnically cleansing the Palestinian territory.
