"Israel" resumes its genocide against the Palestinian people of the Gaza Strip committing more crimes against humanity according to a statement, released on Saturday, by the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry.

The statement further noted that after "Israel" failed to achieve its objectives, and to avoid facing reality, the occupation had resorted to targeting Syria, breaching its sovereignty, hoping to trigger a regional crisis.

"The Israeli entity does not fully understand that the murder of Palestinian children and the deprivation of the Palestinian people of water, food, and medicine will only consolidate the Resistance of the heroic Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza," the statement read.

According to the Ministry, the primary cause of this war is the need for the persistence of the occupation of Palestine by the Zionist entity. The statement also added that certain Western countries even went as far as being complicit in "Israel's" ongoing genocide by granting it immunity and impunity.

More specifically, the Syrian MFA named the US alongside Western countries and accused them of greenlighting Israeli massacres against the people of Palestine.

On that note, the Ministry affirmed that the time has come to stop the Israeli massacres against the Palestinian people and put an end to the cowardly Israeli aggressions against Syria and Lebanon's southern border before the war expands.

Syria's MFA also reaffirmed its absolute support to the people of Palestine in the occupied territories and their right to establish an independent state with al-Quds as its capital.

Syrian air defenses intercept Israeli aggression on Damascus vicinity

Israeli occupation forces launched early Saturday a new aggression on the Syrian capital, Damascus. Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Damascus reported that a missile attack targeted areas in the southern countryside of Damascus, while the Syrian air defenses intercepted it.

On its part, the Syrian Ministry of Defense confirmed that "the Israeli enemy conducted an aerial aggression this morning from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, targeting some points in the vicinity of Damascus."

The Ministry confirmed that Syrian air defenses intercepted the Israeli missiles and shot down most of them, noting that losses were limited to material damages.

It is noteworthy that last week, Israeli occupation aircraft launched an airstrike targeting the runways of the Damascus International Airport, located in Syria's capital, putting it out of service.
