'Victory for Palestine closer than ever before': Spanish MEP
Manuel Pineda, a Spanish member of the European Parliament, told Al Mayadeen that Spain condemns "Israel's" crimes in Gaza.
Manu Pineda, a Spanish member of the European Parliament, revealed in an exclusive interview with Al Mayadeen during a visit to Cuba on Friday that Spain condemns "Israel's" crimes in Gaza.
"From here, from Cuba, the island of dignity surrounded by imperialism and which has not stopped expressing its support for this issue, we condemn the crimes of the occupation government."
He also affirmed that the occupation could "never beat the determination of the Palestinian people", adding that it only takes one look at a Palestinian child's smile to recognize that they are unbeatable.
Pineda then added that "Israel" is not only losing military battles but political battles as well.
"Today, the whole world knows that Israel is a terrorist entity that has become immune to the claims that Jews are the victims who have a right to the Palestinian land," said the Spanish deputy, adding that "Israel is as dead as an expression."
Moreover, Pineda stressed that even though thousands of Palestinian martyrs fell, and the Gaza Strip was completely destroyed, victory for Palestine is closer than ever before, and the battle for liberation has become closer following Operation Al Aqsa Flood."
'Israel' reinforcing practice of ethnic cleansing
In a press conference held at the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in the Cuban capital, Havana, on Friday, Pineda warned of the "danger of media poisoning that seeks to distort the truth of what has been happening in the occupied Palestinian territories since October 7, and ignores the deeper and older roots of the conflict."
Pineda also accused the Israeli occupation of reinforcing the practice of ethnic cleansing and supremacy, saying that this "murderous policy has killed over 20,000 martyrs, most of whom are women, children, and the elderly," and later condemned the United States and the European Union's "complicity with the Israeli regime's genocide, as well as the international community's failure towards ending the war on Gaza and granting the occupation impunity for its crimes."
He also mocked the idea that "Israel's" narrative represents Jews, as there are many who refuse its crimes against Palestinians, Israelis included.
Not a new stance by Pineda
This is not a first for Pineda, as he has shown consistent solidarity with Palestine on several occasions. In a visit to Lebanon in October, he affirmed that "Israel" murders children, women, and journalists in Gaza and that its aggression on the Strip is a "war crime".
Pineda held a press conference outside the Khiam detention center, where he declared his support to the Palestinian people.
The detention center was operated by Israeli occupation forces and their collaborators in South Lebanon. Israeli occupation forces detained, abused, tortured, and killed locals and Resistance fighters within the facility. It was only on May 25, 2000, that detainees were released from the complex after residents of South Lebanon rushed toward it following the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon.
Pineda said, "You are a very important people [the Lebanese] to Palestine and its just cause," adding that "the Israeli aggression is a war crime and the [international community] should make Israel pay the price."
The MEP stressed that October 7 came in response to the continued aggression that the Israeli occupation practiced against the Palestinian people for decades.
He also added that international law legitimizes the right to self-defense against aggression and the right to resist occupation, underlining that this is in fact what happened on October 7.
