'War without horizon': Parents of Israeli troops call out Netanyahu
Families of Israeli soldiers in Gaza call out Netanyahu for prolonging "a war without a horizon", which has no objectives or goals.
Israeli media reported that over 800 parents of IOF conscripts and reservists, who have fought or are currently fighting in Gaza, issued a public letter accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of recklessly and unnecessarily putting their children's lives at risk.
In another plea within the series of calls, they urged him to secure a deal to end the war.
The report states that the letter addressed to the premier mentions that the relatives called out Netanyahu for leading “a war without a horizon, unlike anything in our history, solely in the interest of your own political survival.”
The letter read, “Our sons and daughters set out on a necessary war brought upon us by your actions,” adding, “They lost many friends and are continuing to die and get injured, mentally and physically.”
According to the report, parents said the troops were motivated by the stated "war goals", “first and foremost returning the hostages.”
After more than a year, they now claim the only way to end the war is through a deal with Hamas, arguing that the war is being prolonged aimlessly, stating that “the IDF has no reason to stay in Gaza, besides fulfilling messianic wishes of settling there.”
“We accuse you of abandoning the hostages and the soldiers,” the parents write, threatening to launch an “all-out struggle.”
War on Gaza fails to achieve 'Israel’s' strategic goals: Israeli media
Earlier last week, Israeli media said that the war on the Gaza Strip has failed to achieve any of the strategic objectives.
According to Maariv, the war on Gaza has made no progress on the captives issue or exerted any significant pressure on Hamas regarding the matter. They further noted that the war has neither led to Hamas' collapse nor prompted the group to surrender, nor has it incited a popular uprising against the movement.
Additionally, the reports highlighted that battles are still ongoing in every part of northern Gaza, making it difficult to establish a new reality on the ground.
Israeli media discussed on January 1 the numerous challenges facing the Israeli military as a new year begins.
They emphasized that the prolonged war has exhausted both regular and reserve forces, pointing out that there has been no political breakthrough regarding the release of captives throughout 2024. They questioned whether any army in the world had faced such a test since the end of World War II.
