Russian Su-35 intercepts US reconnaissance aircraft
The Russian military confirmed that the Russian defense force intercepted a US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft over the Pacific Ocean.
The Russian military confirmed that a Russian Su-35 fighter had intercepted a US Air Force RC-135 reconnaissance plane near the country's eastern border.
"On June 10, Russian radar stations detected an aerial target over the Pacific Ocean approaching Russia’s state border," the statement says.
The press service also indicated that the American plane was approaching the Russian border.
The Russian fighter’s crew identified the aerial target as a US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft and shadowed it over the Pacific Ocean. The foreign military plane made a U-turn from the Russian state border, and the Su-35’s crew safely returned to its home airfield, the ministry said.
In early April, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that a Russian MiG-31 interceptor had carried out a sortie to intercept an American reconnaissance plane.
