UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah bin Zayed sent a farewell message to his former Israeli counterpart, Gabi Ashkenazi, sparking widespread public outrage.
Bin Zayed appeared in a video clip addressing Ashkenazi after Benjamin Netanyahu's government lost, and a new government led by Naftali Bennett was formed.
"Hey, Gabi, thank you for being a wonderful partner. I look forward to being a friend for many years to come," the UAE minister said, adding, "God bless you and bless your wonderful family."
The UAE signed the normalization agreement with "Israel" on September 15, 2020, at the White House, in the presence of former US President Donald Trump.
Since then, the UAE and "Israel" have signed partnership agreements and held conferences in several fields, including economy, trade, security, and technology.
2 days ago, the new occupation government, led by Naftali Bennett, won the confidence of the Israeli Knesset, with the support of 60 members and the opposition of 59.
