Kim Jong Un Pledges A Brighter Future for China & North Korea
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un says that the strong relationship between the Chinese Communist Party and the North Korean Workers' Party will meet the aspirations of the two peoples and keep pace with current developments.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un pledged to advance his country's relations with China toward a "brighter future, tiding over difficulties and ordeals by dint of militant friendship and bonds of kinship."
In a message addressed to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Kim said that the Korean Workers' Party, through its strong unity with the Communist Party of China, will raise the "friendship onto a new strategic phase as required by the times and desired by the two peoples."
The congratulatory message was sent on the occasion of the centenary of the Communist Party of China.
Noting the deepening rivalry between China and the US, Kim also said that "all-round pressure of the hostile forces upon the CPC is no more than their last-ditch attempt and they can never check the ongoing advance of the Chinese people toward a fresh victory."
Earlier on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said in a statement that Beijing "stands ready to positively consider providing help to North Korea should there be such a need." He further emphasized on the two countries' "long tradition of mutual assistance in times of need."
