Popular Mobilization Forces Counter ISIS Attack
After the terrorist act in late June that targeted thermal power stations in Salah al-Din, Samarra, the PMF announced that it thwarted a terrorist operation by ISIS aiming to explode power transmitting towers in southern Nineveh Province.
The 25th Brigade from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) thwarted an attempt for "ISIS" members to blow up power transmitting towers in the Nineveh province.
Three locally made explosives were found during the Popular Mobilizations Forces’ operation. They were designed to shatter the power transmitting tower, Southern Nineveh.
The 25th brigade increased its security methods, to secure the High voltage AC transmission towers, from any terrorist attacks in the South of Nineveh.
Last Friday, the intelligence Force Associate affiliated with the PMF, arrested a dangerous terrorist involved in several terrorist attacks and was hiding in Baghdad, revealed the PMF.
The Popular Mobilizations Forces noted that the arrested terrorist was involved with targeting the security forces and civilians in many cities including the city of AL-Fallujah, stressing that he was arrested due to the remarkable efforts of the PMF’s intelligence unit members in Baghdad.
Earlier, the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity said that a terrorist attack targeted the Salah al-Din Thermal Station in Samarra in late June with two explosive devices, causing severe material damage in the parts of the obstetric unit.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted a tower and the main electricity line feeding areas in Baqubah and the capital, Baghdad.
