Maduro to US: We Are Not an American Colony
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro says that his country has "the best electoral system," warning against meddling in Venezuelan internal affairs.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro warned the United States from interfering in his country's internal affairs on Wednesday, stressing that Venezuela is not an American colony.
Maduro said: "Do not interfere in Venezuela's internal affairs and do not interfere in our electoral system. You are not the masters of our republic, and Venezuela is not an American colony. In a meeting with a group of citizens in Caracas, he stated that his country has "the best electoral system in the world, guaranteeing a democratic process that involves all parties."
He noted that opposition figures could participate in the next elections, affirming that "it is not acceptable that anyone harms internal cohesion in Venezuela."
The Venezuelan president had said on Tuesday that he is committed to "restoring the socialist welfare established by the Bolivarian state, and to recover economic growth."
