The occupation forces blew up today at dawn the house of prisoner Muntaser Shalabi, who had carried out the Za'tara checkpoint operation, in the town of Turmus 'Ayya, north of Ramallah in the West Bank.

Local sources said that a large force of the occupation army with their military vehicles stormed the town of Turmus 'Ayya, raided the house of prisoner Shalabi, and began evacuating the neighboring houses in preparation for demolishing it.

The sources added that the occupation forces used large quantities of explosives to detonate and destroy the house.

The occupation had decided to postpone the demolition of prisoner Shalabi's house at the request of the US, considering that the captive holds American citizenship and is a businessman.

Hamas Spokesman Hazem Qassem said that blowing up Shalabi's house "is an offensive act and a terrorist conduct practiced by criminal gangs."

And in a tweet on his account, Qassim emphasized that "the occupation's insistence on adopting the policy of demolishing homes confirms its inability to stop the revolution of our people and actually mirrors the stupidity of the Zionist colonizer." He also highlighted that the occupation has practiced this policy since its occupation of Palestine and has failed every time to break the unwavering strong will of the Palestinian people.

Last May, the occupation forces had arrested prisoner Muntaser Shalabi for carrying out an operation at the Za’tara checkpoint, which led to the killing of an Israeli soldier and the injury of others. Shalabi’s arrest was the result of security coordination between the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli occupation.
