The “Israel National Cyber Directorate” said on Thursday that it has reached an accord with Morocco on cybersecurity cooperation. This is their first cyber-defense agreement, since the resumption of relations between the two parties.

According to the Israeli network, “I24News”, the agreement is for operational cooperation, research and development, and information and knowledge sharing.

The agreement was signed in Rabat this week by Yigal Unna, Director General of the “Israeli Cyber Directorate”, General El Mostafa Rabii, and Moroccan Defense Minister Abdellatif Loudiyi.

Morocco and "Israel" announced the restart of relations in December, after they were stopped in 2000 following the outbreak of the second Palestinian uprising. Morocco joined the UAE, Bahrain, and Sudan as the fourth Arab country to sign a normalization deal with "Israel" in 2020.

After “Israel's” brutal response to the second Palestinian intifada and the suspension of peace talks with the Palestinians in 2000, Morocco severed all connections with “Israel”.

Morocco, however, resumed diplomatic relations with “Israel” in December as part of a settlement backed by the United States. After the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan, it became the fourth Arab country to agree to normalization with “Israel” in 2020.

Ethiopia, on the other hand, stated yesterday that it is looking into the possibility of establishing a cybersecurity academy in the African country through the Ethiopian Information Network Security Agency and the Israeli Ministry of Regional Cooperation.

Addis Ababa and “Israel” have already agreed to collaborate in the cybersecurity field, according to Ethiopian Radio Fana.

In addition, Dubai Police chose an Israeli drone company “Aerobatics” to help increase security and shorten the time span of emergency responses, according to the Israeli website “Israel Defense”.

Dubai chose the Aerobotics system shortly after the signing of the Abraham Accords between the UAE and “Israel” last year, as a test case for the systematic integration of drones in security activities.
