Israeli Media: "Israel" Joins the African Union as an "Observer"
"Israel" joins the African Union as an observer, and the Israeli Foreign Minister expresses his happiness.
For the first time since 2002, the Israeli ambassador in Addis Ababa today, Thursday, presented his letter of accreditation as an observer to the African Union.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid stated: This is a happy day for Israel-Africa relations. This is a day of celebration for Israeli-Africa relations. The diplomatic achievement is the result of efforts by the Foreign Ministry, the African Division, and Israeli embassies on the continent. This is a corrective step to the anomaly that has prevailed for almost two decades and is an important part of strengthening Israel’s foreign relations fabric.
It is noteworthy that "Israel" has diplomatic relations with 46 nations in the African Union.
During the past years, "Israel" revived its diplomatic relations with Chad, Guinea, and Sudan, which signed the agreement to normalize ties with "Israel" a few months ago.
