Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed that the existing coordination between Iran and Syria regarding the fight against terrorism was a success, adding that it will continue until all lands are liberated and terrorist organizations are defeated.

Following his meeting with the President of Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly, Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf, on Wednesday, President Bashar al-Assad stated that Iran is Syria's key ally, having aided Syria's people in their fight against the "terrorist war" and provided support at different levels.

The meeting focused on the countries' bilateral relations, as well as their constructive cooperation in several fields.

Moreover, the importance of the Syrian and Iranian parliaments in paving the road for bilateral collaboration, not only in the public sector, but also in the private sector, was stressed during the meeting. They maintained that this would help the people of both countries, Syria and Iran, to deal with the economic war, embargo policy, and sanctions.

Qalibaf believes that the recent elections in Syria and Iran, as well as the peoples' will to see the elections through, demonstrate that the embargo policies have failed and that no one can stand in the way of their will.

Qalibaf had arrived in Damascus heading a delegation that included a number of members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly on a visit for several days, in response to an official invitation from the People's Assembly.

The Speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh emphasized that "victory shall always come to the two friendly countries, Syria and Iran, thanks to the peoples’ belief in their rights."

Sabbagh stressed, "the strength of the bilateral relations between Iran and Syria in light of the continued coordination and joint cooperation between the two sides, and the strong, deep-rooted and ever renewed relations."
