The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summons the UK Chargé d'Affairs in Tehran and informs him about Iran's rejection of the British accusations regarding the attack on the Israeli ship in the Sea of Oman.

During the meeting, the head of the third Western Europe office in the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for the UK to "review its false accusations issued by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs."

"This is not the first time the regime has made such accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran," stated the Foreign Ministry.

The MFA also said that there is a flood of allegations against Iran "while no document has been presented so far about Iran's role in this incident."

Iran added that it has always seen the Persian Gulf as a safe waterway for ships and has sought to enhance security there.

While Iran warned against any move by Western countries and "Israel" against the Islamic Republic, it stated that it has a clear policy for self-defense, adding that there would be a "tough response" to any moves.

In turn, the British diplomat pledged to Iran that he would submit a report to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as soon as possible.

This move came in protest to the UK summoning the Iranian ambassador to the UK, asking for clarifications apropos the Israeli ship in the Sea of Oman.

On Sunday, the United States and "Israel" had accused Iran of being behind the attack on the Israeli ship.

"Upon review of the available information, we are confident that Iran conducted this attack which killed two innocent people, using one-way explosive UAVs, a lethal capability it is increasingly employing throughout the region," said the US Department of State in a press statement.

The UK and US Secretaries of State pledged to respond to the attack on the Israeli ship.

"We are working with our partners to consider our next steps and consulting with governments inside the region and beyond on an appropriate response, which will be forthcoming," added the State Department.

On the other hand, Dominic Raab, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs, said, "The UK believes the attack on MV MERCER STREET was carried out by Iran and was deliberate, targeted, and unlawful. The UK calls on Iran to immediately cease actions that risk regional and international peace and security."
