“Israel” Blows a Fuse As EU Plans to Attend Raisi's Inauguration
“Israel” denounced a European Union decision to send a senior diplomat to Iran for the inauguration ceremony of Ebrahim Raisi.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry called on the EU to back down on its “shameful” decision to send diplomat Enrique Mora to the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new President Ebrahim Raisi this week, describing it as a display of "poor judgment", according to the Israeli website “Walla”.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the decision “is puzzling and shows poor judgment”, adding that “the participation of the EU representative in the ceremony comes just a few days after Iran killed two civilians,” in reference to the recent attack on an Israeli ship off the coast of Oman; charges that Tehran denied.
“Flattery and subservience to violent totalitarian regimes only invite more violence and aggression,” the statement added.
Today, President-elect, Ebrahim Raisi will officially assume the position of President of the Republic of Iran, succeeding former Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, beginning a four-year term.
The Majlis Presiding Board Spokesman Nezamodin Mousavi announced that over 115 officials from 73 countries have expressed their willingness to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raisi on August 5.
Mousavi added that 10 heads of state, 20 parliament speakers, 11 foreign ministers, 10 ministers, special envoys, deputy parliament speakers, heads of parliamentary committees, and parliamentary delegations will participate in the ceremony, according to Iranian News Agency “Tasnim”.
On the possibility of a Saudi Arabian representative attending the ceremony, he stated, "the details about foreign guests are still unclear." He added that the Majlis will provide more information in the coming days.
On June 20, Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli announced that Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi won Iran's presidential race by gaining over 60% of votes.
