The leader of the Arab Unification Party, Wiam Wahhab, told Al Mayadeen that the Lebanese Army acted with precision and responsibility in light of the Khalde incident.

Wahhab also indicated that Hezbollah is acting wisely, adding that its positions formed a guarantee in the face of the present incitement. Wahhab stated that not addressing the Khalde crime would cause grave repercussions.

"Despite the important role played by the army and the intelligence services, the security services have the role of handling investigative security - they should have known that something was being prepared," he added.

On the anniversary of the Beirut Blast, Wahhab said that "nothing compares to this crime." He added that the judiciary must be pressured into issuing rulings instead of slogans and banners.

He continued, "The intelligence related to the Beirut port blast are clear; however, disclosing them is banned," noting that there is a US-Western decision not to disclose the identity of those who brought the ammonium nitrate to Lebanon.

Apropos the accusations that Syria and Hezbollah are facing, which claim that they are behind the explosion, Wahhab said, "The Syrian army does not need ammonium nitrate nor other substances," clarifying that there are foreign instructions to focus on Hezbollah and its weapons.
