UK Minister of Education Faces Legal Charges for Siding with "Israel"
British Education Secretary Gavin Williamson faces legal charges after issuing directives to schools to ensure "political neutrality" on the "Palestinian-Israeli conflict."
Secretary of State for Education of the United Kingdom Gavin Williamson faces legal action after issuing discriminatory orders to schools in occupied Palestine.
Moreover, the British newspaper, Morning Star, revealed two days ago that the London-based Cage Rights Group had accused Williamson of "censoring the debate on Palestine."
In his defense, he argued that he was trying to control the controversy over this issue in schools.
Reportedly, Williamson wrote to school principals last May, ordering them to ensure "political neutrality on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict" in response to what he described as the "alarming increase in anti-Semitic incidents" in some schools.
The human rights group asserted that Williamson's letter failed to acknowledge the importance of political expression, even with the concern surrounding anti-semitism.
His intervention came after hundreds of students were reprimanded for their solidarity with the Palestinians in response to the recent Israeli military aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip.
In an earlier letter for judicial review action sent on Monday, the rights group argued that the directive discriminates against Muslim students by mentioning an "increased discriminatory behavior towards Muslim students by faculty."
In another context, the Mind campaign, which seeks to "fight Islamophobia" in Britain, said it had received 146 reports of students facing training measures in schools since May.
The newspaper reported cases of students being told that raising the Palestinian flag equates to "terrorism," with a teacher claiming that the flag resembles a "swastika."
Williamson's letter added that schools should not include politically biased material.
