Today, Thursday, Iraqi President Barham Salih met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who arrived in Tehran to participate in the inauguration ceremony.
At the outset of the meeting, the Iraqi president congratulated Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on the occasion of being sworn in before parliament, wishing him "success in performing his duties and achieving more progress, prestige, and prosperity for the Iranian people."
Saleh praised Iran's support in confronting the terrorist organization ISIS, which plans to destabilize the security and stability of the region, stressing that "Iraq strongly supports the stability and peace of the region, putting an end to anything that taints it."
The meeting also discussed many common files between the two states to strengthen the firm relations between them.
During the meeting, Raisi said that stopping foreign intervention from Iraq will contribute to its development. He added that Iran has not hesitated in preserving Iraq's security and stability.
He highlighted that Iran will always remain Iraq's companion during difficult days, nurturing a relationship that draws a future of relations between the two countries.
Raisi noted that "Iran desires a strong Iraq, and we hope that the upcoming elections will achieve what the Iraqi people aspire to within the framework of their pride and dignity."
