Tebboune Reveals An Algerian Initiative Regarding the Renaissance Dam
Disagreements are still ongoing between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia over the Renaissance Dam, and the Algerian president reveals an Algerian initiative to resolve the dispute.
Algerian initiative:
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune revealed a "100% Algerian initiative" regarding the Renaissance Dam, noting that there is a great response from Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
He explained that the Algerian mediation in the Renaissance Dam will succeed because it is free of greediness and narrow accounts.
During his regular meeting with the Algerian press yesterday, the Algerian president stated that the Foreign minister felt great acceptance from the three countries regarding the Algerian initiative, and he is sure that Algeria will succeed in the mediation regarding the Renaissance Dam.
Algerian FM Lamamra visits Sudan:
Moreover, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra visited Sudan at the head of a diplomatic delegation on July 31, and discussed with Sudanese officials the issue of the Renaissance Dam.
The Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met the Algerian Foreign Minister and reviewed the initiative presented by Algeria to resolve the dispute between Sudan, Egypt, and Ethiopia over the Renaissance Dam, by holding a direct meeting between the leaders of the three countries.
The Sudanese Foreign Minister, Maryam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, also expressed that her country welcomed the Algerian initiative calling for a direct meeting between the three countries to reach a solution to their differences over the Renaissance Dam.
No pressure accepted on Tunisia:
On the other hand, the Algerian president addressed what is happening in Tunisia, and indicated that what is happening is an internal issue, and Algeria will not accept any pressure on Tunisia.
In addition, he stressed that Algeria has returned to play its role in the Palestinian cause and the Libyan conflict, welcoming at the same time Morocco's meeting with the Polisario Front in Algeria.
