The United States announced Monday the imposition of sanctions on Russian, Lebanese, Iraqi, and Syrian entities.
The Biden administration imposed sanctions on scientific research center NPP Pulsar, Charter Green Light Moscow, and Asia-Invest LLC, where Washington sees that the US legislation prohibits the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction with respect to Iraq, North Korea, Syria, and the United States.
Additionally, the US blacklisted Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq of Iraq, Kata'ib Hezbollah of Iraq, Hezbollah of Lebanon, and two Syrian commercial companies.
The document said that on July 29, the United States government implemented the measures authorized in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act, noting that the sanctions will be imposed on "any successor, sub-unit, or subsidiary" of the targeted entities.
"These measures shall be implemented by the responsible departments and agencies of the US government and will remain in place for two years from the effective date, except to the extent that the Secretary of State may subsequently determine otherwise," the document added, not clarifying the reason behind these sanctions.
On July 28, the United States Treasury imposed sanctions on eight figures and 10 entities as part of "Counter Terrorism Designations and Syria-Related Designations."
