Tunisia: Radwan Masmoudi Resigns from Ennahda Movement
Radwan Al Masmoudi, a member of the Ennahda movement in Tunisia, announces his resignation.
Today, Wednesday, a leader of the Tunisia Ennahda movement, Radwan Masmoudi announced his resignation from the movement.
Al-Masmoudi detailed his decision to resign, stating he wanted to "devote himself to safeguarding democracy, free of conflicts and partisan constraints."
Tunisia has been mired in political turmoil for weeks, prompting its president, Kais Saied, to adopt a series of extraordinary measures, the most significant of which is his assuming executive authority.
Following Prime Minister Hisham Al-Mashishi's dismissal, a number of important ministers, including those in departments of interior, defense, and justice, as well as directors of a number of critical governmental directorates, have been relieved of their duties. Parliament has also been called to a halt.
Rached Ghannouchi, speaker for the Tunisian Parliament, who is also a co-founder of the Ennahda movement, urged President Kais Saied to join the dialogue and retreat from the "edge of the abyss", as he described it.
