Ennahda Appoints Committee to Manage Tunisian Political Crisis
The Tunisian Ennahda movement announces joint efforts need to be taken to emerge from the crisis, and allow the country to tackle future problems within the framework or national unity and the constitution.
The Ennahda movement announced today, Thursday, the formation of a committee to manage the political crisis in Tunisia, and expressed its “positive interactions to help overcome the current obstacles and return Tunisian to a democratic path.”
The movement stated that the committee will be headed by a member of the Executive Office, Muhammad Al-Qumani. Also adding that the committee searches for solutions and methods that will return the country to its normal institutional situation.
In its statement, Ennahda detailed that joint efforts must be made to emerge from the crisis, allowing Tunisia to tackle its immediate and future problems within the framework of national unity and under the constitution, in the face of those who strive for internal Tunisian confrontation.
The statement continued, "Our movement, which previously relinquished power in the name of national interest, is ready to reestablish positive interactions once again in order to establish a democratic path, what we value as one of the true meanings of patriotism is that Ennahda will be wherever Tunisia's interest is.
The movement stressed that it will support any strategies that respect the constitution and serve public interests, ensuring that laws are enforced without exceptions, prosecuting the corrupt regardless of their positions, and accomplishing the economic and political reforms that the country needs while maintaining its stability, unity, and solidarity.
"Ennahda is flexible in seeking the best formulas for running parliament, adjusting its priorities and improving its performance so that it can resume its roles soon, and contribute to preparing the country for early elections to restore security to the people so that fair elections remain the only basis for political legitimacy," the statement said.
Earlier today, Hafeez Hafeez, Assistant Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labor Union stated that "the Union has full confidence in president Kais Saied's extraordinary decisions, but they are waiting for a clear roadmap to be revealed."
The Tunisian newspaper Al-Shaab reported that a change in the political system is necessary and that the formation of the government must be completed today before tomorrow so that the union can pursue its social benefits.
