One Dead, 17 Injured after Explosion on Russian Bus
One person was killed and 15 people were injured after an explosion in a bus in the city of Voronezh in central Russia.
An explosion on a bus in western Russia killed a woman and injured at least 17 others, local authorities said early Friday.
Voronezh's Governor Alexander Gusev said via Telegram that “the number of injured is up to 18... among whom a woman has died."
The bus driver told the state-owned Russia-24 news channel that there had been 35 passengers aboard when the explosion happened overnight Thursday.
The explosion occurred while the bus was parked near a shopping center, ripping the roof off the vehicle and blowing out the windows, according to a video taken by bystanders and posted on social media.
In a statement, the national investigation committee said that it had dispatched experts from Moscow and had opened a negligence case regarding the bus preventive maintenance.
On his account, Sergei Sokolov Deputy Governor of Voronezh told the Interfax news agency that “so far, there is nothing to indicate that this was a terrorist attack."
