After 20 years of war, the Taliban has taken most of Afghanistan.

The Taliban declared today that it has taken control of the capitals of the provinces of Laghman, Maidan, Wardak, Bamyan, Khost, Kapisa, Nangarhar, and Daykundi.

According to the Anadolu news agency, the Taliban has taken over 30 of Afghanistan's 34 capitals after seizing control of the capitals of seven provinces.

The ongoing operations executed by Taliban, under the title “Fateh” Conquest Operations, are in effect. The spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, tweeted that the movement's fighters had taken control of Mihtarlam center of Laghman Province, Maidan Shahr center of  Wardak square Province, Bamyan center of Bamyan province, Khost center of Khost province, and Mahmud-i-Raqi center of Kapisa province.

According to Zabihullah Mujahid, the Movement has taken control of state governors' offices, as well as police headquarters, prisons, and all government buildings in capital cities.

The Taliban has now surrounded the entrances to the capital Kabul, but have not yet entered it.

A Taliban delegation arrived at the Presidential Palace in the Afghan capital just a few hours ago intending to conduct talks regarding the future situation.

Afghan acting Interior Minister, Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal, said Kabul would not be attacked and the "transition" will happen peacefully.

Furthermore, the Taliban has published footage of its fighters seizing control of an Afghan military helicopter manufactured in the United States, which was taken at Kandahar airport. The airport was, until recently, one of the country's most important US bases.

On Friday, the Taliban has captured Kandahar, Afghanistan's second-largest city. This represents the biggest setback for the US-backed government since the Movement launched a new offensive upon the withdrawal of US forces.
