28 Palestinian female prisoners subject to abuse in 'Damon' prison
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs calls on humanitarian, human rights, and women's organizations to intervene immediately to stop violations against female prisoners.
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs called on humanitarian, human rights, and women's organizations to "intervene immediately to stop the daily violations and harassment against female prisoners in the Israeli Damon prison."
According to the commission, following a visit by its lawyer Hanan Al-Khatib to a number of female prisoners in prison, "life for the female prisoners is getting worse and more complicated."
Al-Khatib emphasized "the [dire] psychological situation of a number of female prisoners mirrored in the details of their daily life," noting that "there are no interventions by the prison administration to deal privately with sick female prisoners or to provide the necessary and appropriate treatment for them."

The Commission further noted that when it comes to the prisoners' demands, the prison authority practices procrastination and indifference, given that requests were submitted to bring in supplies for them to no avail.
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs indicated that the number of female prisoners in the "Damon" prison is 28, in addition to two female prisoners in the so-called "Ramla" prison clinic and two others in "Abu Kabir", thus bringing the total number of female prisoners to 32.
