Back in early March, the Gun Violence Archive (GVA) revealed that the United States reached 100 mass shootings in 2023. Mass shootings are defined as events in which at least four people are shot and either injured or killed, not including the gunman.

So far this year, just 64 days have passed, meaning that there have been more mass shootings than days in the United States.

At Bolingbrook, Illinois, the 100th mass shooting of the year killed three people, including a toddler, and injured another.

It is worth noting that the United States did not surpass 100 mass shootings until March 19 in 2022 and March 22 in 2021, as per GVA data.

In January, there were 52 mass shootings, 41 in February, and 11 so far in March, for a total of 104.

At least 7,537 individuals have died as a result of various forms of gun violence in the country, so far this year.
