Two Iranian oil tankers dock in Syria's Baniyas port
Once again, Iran defies the US embargo and successfully sends another two fuel ships to Syria.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Damascus reported, according to informed sources, the arrival of two oil ships at the Baniyas oil terminal, carrying two million barrels of Iranian crude oil.
The correspondent added that "the cargo of the two tankers will be refined within days at the Baniyas refinery, and it will further supply the oil derivatives sector in Syria."
Concurrent with the presence of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Syria, media outlets announced the arrival of the ships at the port of Baniyas in northern Syria.
According to media reports, the fuel oil that arrived at Baniyas Port was the result of the activation of the credit line between Damascus and Tehran.
English Aawsat reported that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad signed an Iranian credit line during a surprise visit to Tehran in May 2022.

According to the official Syrian News Agency SANA, Al-Assad signed a "new phase" of the credit line that includes supplying Syria with energy and other necessary supplies to make up for the deficit.
A credit line is a flexible loan from a bank or financial institution with a set amount of money that can be accessed as needed and returned immediately or over time.
Iran opened the first credit line to Syria in 2013, with a cap of $1 billion with soft interest, followed by another worth $3 billion to pay the country's demands for oil and derivatives.
Iran oil tankers reaching Syria
The Syrian newspaper Al-Watan pointed out last month that the two Iranian tankers that arrived on the Syrian coast were the first signs of activating the new credit line between Iran and Syria.
Informed sources in Tehran indicated that the arrival of tankers will continue according to specific timetables without delay after the new version of the credit line began.
The sources pointed out that the delay that happened during the past months was a result of the amendments that occurred to the mechanism of the credit line between the two countries, after the formation of a new government in Iran.

The source confirmed that the refining process will start immediately, adding that the required quantities of oil derivatives will begin to be distributed successively to all Syrian governorates.
