UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres congratulated President Raisi in a letter on his election as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing his interest in working with the new Iranian government in order to achieve peace, security, sustainable development, and human rights throughout the world.

Raisi's presidency, according to Guterres, coincides with crucial circumstances surrounding Iran, neighboring regions, and the world, such as a worldwide pandemic, climate change, and lengthy, deadly conflicts, especially in the Middle East.
