Amir-Abdollahian calls to stop irresponsible behavior of the US
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian calls to stop the irresponsible behavior of the US and stresses that the Vienna negotiations should lead to the lifting of sanctions on Iran.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Foreign Minister, confirmed that he held talks in a series of phone calls with the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Austria, calling for the need to stop the irresponsible behavior of the US.
Amir-Abdollahian said that the talks discussed the new balanced foreign policy, the relations with the EU, vaccines, the situation in Afghanistan, and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. He stressed that the Vienna negotiations should protect Iran's rights and interests and help lift the sanctions imposed by the United States.
In his phone call with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, Amir-Abdollahian considered that the US lacks a correct understanding of the region and its people, especially the Iranians. He added that Americans should realize that they should only speak in the language of respect, politeness, and logic.
For his part, Maas urged on resuming the Vienna negotiations in the soonest time possible, assuring Germany's readiness to raise the level of cooperation with Iran.
In return, Amir-Abdollahian welcomed raising the level of bilateral cooperation in all fields between Tehran and Berlin and invited his German counterpart to take measures that aim to resolve negotiations related to sending the BioNtech vaccine to Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Minister criticized the deceptive acts of the US in imposing a ban on sending essential and necessary medicines to Iran, such as the COVID-19 vaccine produced in Germany.
Amirabdollahian advised the European Troika to change its behavior and put an end to its failure in implementing its commitments before the nuclear agreement.
As for the talks between him and his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Schallenberg, the Iranian minister confirmed that Tehran welcomes negotiations.
Regarding the nuclear agreement, Amir-Abdollahian stressed that his country has proven its primary role in preserving the nuclear agreement with strategic patience over the US withdrawal from the agreement and the Europeans' failure to implement their obligations.
At the Baghdad Summit for Cooperation and Partnership, the Iranian Foreign Minister considered this initiative a good base for regional cooperation. He indicated that Iraq's sovereignty is being targeted by intrusive and irresponsible measures by some sides, including the US upon witnessing the "cowardly" assassinations of Commander Soleimani and Commander Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.
In turn, Schallenberg announced Austria's readiness to enhance cooperation between the two countries, as well as to grant one million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Iran within the next two weeks.
Schallenberg thanked and appreciated Iran for its transfer of Austrian nationals from Afghanistan, stressing the need to exchange views on the nuclear agreement and to resume the Vienna negotiations.
It is worth mentioning that two days ago, in a telephone conversation with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, Amir-Abdollahian said that Europe and the United States should return to the nuclear agreement, pointing out that Iran would participate in negotiations that would have tangible results in ensuring the rights and interests of the people.
