Syrian President discusses with Iranian Minister of Roads ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the public and private sectors and encourage joint investments.

    Al-Assad stressed the importance of establishing new projects with Iran

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and Iranian Minister of Roads and Housing Rustam Kassemi discussed bilateral relations, especially at the economic level. President Al-Assad stressed the importance of establishing new projects that bring about strategic benefits to both Syria and Iran and bring the business sectors in both countries together.

They also discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the public and private sectors and encourage joint investments with the aim of giving a new impetus to trade and economic ties.

For his part, Minister Kassemi reiterated his country's firm position in supporting the steadfastness of the Syrian people in the face of the terrorist war they are facing, confirming Iran’s keenness to expand cooperation between the two countries in all fields that serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

In his turn, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Mekdad discussed with Kassemi issues of common interest between the two countries, stressing the need to upgrade economic relations to keep pace with the level of development of joint political relations.

Minister Kassemi also stressed the brotherly relations that join the two countries and the Iranian and Syrian peoples, highlighting determination to seek real economic and trade partnerships. 

The Iranian Minister also stressed that his visit is aimed at consulting and discussing issues related to activating economic relations, especially increasing the number of flights between the two countries, activating the process of transferring goods and services, and increasing the volume of trade exchange.

Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Qusai Mustafa, Deputy Director of the Afro-Asian Administration, Ihsan Al-Rumman from the Minister's office, and from the Iranian side, Rahmat Arefi, Assistant Minister of Roads and Housing, Mehdi Sobhani, the Iranian Ambassador to Damascus, and other accompanying members attended the meeting.
