Palestinian lawyer and activist Khaled Zabarka said the move of al-Lydd’s residents constitutes a deterrent to any attempt to target the mosque or the Palestinians in the city.
He went on to say that what happened in the city of al-Lydd during the past few months but demonstrates how strong-willed the Palestinians are and highlights their ability to protect themselves and their sacred sites.
Yesterday, dozens of Israeli settlers participated in a provocative march against the Palestinian residents of al-Lydd.
Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that dozens of extremist settlers roamed the streets of al-Lydd, raising Israeli flags, at the invitation of settlement organizations.
In this context, Hamas Movement described the “flags' march” as a “racist and aggressive behavior against the original deeply-rooted rightful owners of the land."
