Our correspondent noted that al-Ahdal had played a role recently in the rapprochement between the Reform Party and Tareq Saleh, the leader of the UAE-backed forced in the city of al-Mokha and the western coast.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident. The Reform party and Taiz authorities have also not released a statement as of yet.
The Yemeni Army and popular committees had earlier managed to gain control over large swathes of land in the al-Abdiyyah governorate, south of Marib, after violent clashes with the Hadi government and Reform Party forces, who were backed by hundreds of Saudi coalition air raids.
