The Tulkarm Refugee Camp witnessed a significant resistance operation on Tuesday, as the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, al-Quds Brigades - Tulkarm Battalion, in coordination with al-Qassam Brigades, announced their successful ambush of an Israeli armored force in the al-Akasha axis. The operation involved a sophisticated trap within a minefield, according to a statement by the al-Quds Brigades.
The statement detailed that the engineering unit detonated an explosive device targeting a military bulldozer in the al-Akasha axis. This action was designed to lure the Israeli armored force, which included a command jeep.
Following the arrival of the targeted force, a pre-planted explosive device was detonated under the command jeep, followed by a heavy barrage of gunfire directed at the reinforcements. The resistance fighters confirmed achieving direct hits during the operation.
According to the statement, the operation wounded two senior Israeli officers: the commander of the West Bank Division and the commander of the Menashe Brigade. The occupation forces refrained from disclosing further casualties.
