Al-Assad noted the importance of Syria's relationship with China, considering it as "pivotal and important" in supporting the Syrian people in their steadfastness against internationally-backed terrorism.
He further expressed his people's appreciation of the political support offered by Beijing in international forums, which highlights its commitment to international law and world peace as well as its efforts in maintaining Syria's territorial integrity.
Moreover, al-Assad congratulated his Chinese counterpart on the 50th anniversary of China's restoration of its legitimate seat at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

He stressed that during the past 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Chinese-Syrian relations have withstood the tests of international changes with their bilateral friendship further cemented.
China is also willing to mount additional support to Syria in both its reconstruction and development efforts and its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese president assured.
Xi also voiced his appreciation towards Syria for its continuous support for China, in addition to welcoming Syria's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the Global Development Initiative.
