Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed that the upcoming elections scheduled for the 10th of October cannot be postponed.

On the sidelines of his visit to Kuwait, he said that the elections will take place on time, adding that the doors of Iraq are open to Kuwaiti investors. He noted that a general reform document will be presented such that its bullets will be adopted as basic constants for Iraq.

Al-Kadhimi returned to his country after he and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, led extended talks between both countries' delegations.

It is noteworthy that Iraqi security forces had begun to develop a plan for the early elections through scouting operations and distributing tasks to security services that will protect electoral centers and ballot boxes.

Security-wise, the Iraqi Media Security Unit announced the arrest of a terrorist and the seizure of missiles and explosives in Anbar Governorate.

In an issued statement, the unit confirmed that the terrorist was arrested after the intelligence set up an ambush while he was on his way to enter Karma district in Anbar. The statement added that the intelligence groups and the ground force seized twenty mortar shells and ten explosive devices in Al-Jaraishi area of Ramadi city.
