The Ministry of Education in the Gaza Strip reveals the numbers of students wounded and martyred as a result of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education in the Gaza Strip announced on Tuesday that since the onset of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, a total of 4,895 students have been martyred and 8,514 have been injured in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

The Ministry detailed that in the Gaza Strip alone, the number of student martyrs has increased to over 4,851 martyrs and 8,227 wounded. Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, 44 students have been martyred, with 283 others injured, and an additional 89 students have been arrested.

It announced that 239 teachers and administrators have been martyred, with 836 sustaining injuries in the Gaza Strip. In the occupied West Bank, six teachers were injured, while over 71 others were arrested.

The Ministry also pointed out that 620,000 students are still deprived of enrollment in their schools since October 7, 2023.

Regarding the numbers of damaged schools, the Ministry clarified that 286 government schools and 65 affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA) were bombed and vandalized in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, 49 schools in the West Bank were stormed and vandalized.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that the Israeli targeting of schools has impacted 90% of government schools and education buildings, suffering both direct and indirect damage.

Furthermore, 29% of these school buildings are now considered inoperable due to either total demolition or severe damage. Additionally, 133 government schools were repurposed as shelter centers in the Gaza Strip.
